Dick Grayson

Growing up within a circus perfoming family, Dick Grayson has been performing as an acrobat for several years until he was 8. During his last show in his family's performance act, the "Flying Graysons", a gangster sabotaged the show and murdered his whole family. Bruce Wayne took it upon himself to take Dick under his wing and help find clues and evidence needed to bring the criminal to justice. After this incident, Dick Grayson took on the role of Robin the Boy Wonder as Batman's sidekick. This continued until he matured and became his own superhero, Nightwing. Much later on in time, Dick Grayson actually assumes the identity of Batman as Bruce Wayne is traveling through time. With Bruce's return, Grayson becomes Nightwing once again.

Eveolution of Jason Todd from young robin to mature red hood

Jason Todd

Arguably the most interesting Robin in comic history, Jason Todd became Robin after Dick Grayson had left to be his own hero. With a nearly identical origin as Dick, Jason was also the son of a family of circus acrobats. However, his family was murdered by a different villain, Killer Croc. This Robin was red-haired and fought crime in his original circus outfit, until Dick gave him his own Robin suit. However, with a remake of the DC universe, Jason started as a street orphan with naturally black hair. In this universe, he meets Batman after attempting to steal the tires from the Batmobile. Batman takes Jason under his wing and trains him to be the new Robin. The writers later held a poll to determine whether Jason should live or die; consequently, the readers voted for him to die. In this case, Joker killed Jason by beating him to death with a crowbar and blowing him up in a warehouse. Luckily, in the future, time is altered, which results in Jason's revival. Jason dawns himself as the Red Hood and much later becomes leader of the superhero team the Outlaws.

Profile picture of Tim Drake as robin with his metal staff

Tim Drake

Mr. Drake had been following the adventures of Batman and Robins ever since he witnessed the murder of the Flying Graysons. With his own detective skills, Timothy had discovered the secret identities of Batman and the Robins, which helped link him to both of them. Tim lacks combat skills but makes it up with his unique detective skills. Batman provides him with leg armor to compensate for his weakness. Tim is said to be a combination of the Dick and Jason; however, he is the first Robin to star in his own comic series. He later leads the young superhero team Young Justice and Teen Titans afterwards. After numerous alterations in time, Tim Drake ultimately becomes Red Robin.

Stephanie Brown as the first female robin

Stephanie Brown

Tim Drake's girlfriend and former hero the Spoiler, Stephanie took Tim's place as Robin after he became Red Robin. To prove her worthiness, she stole Batman's plan to end Gotham's crime and acheived it. However, she was captured and tortured by crime boss Black Mask. She escaped but then died due to the injuries sustained. A few years pass and it is later revealed that she had faked her death in order to be protected. She then becomes Batgirl, replacing Barbara Gordon.

Damian Wayne with a mean look as robin

Damian Wayne

Damian is the son of Batman and Talia al Ghul. In other words, she is Ra's al Ghul's grandson. She left him in Batman's care after years of being hidden from Batman. Damian was violent, lacked discipline, and was trained by the League of Assassins. Since he learned to kill at a young age, he had trouble building a relationship with his father since Batman swore to never kill. After several issues, Batman saved Damian from being the host of Ra's al Ghul's soul, thus causing Damian to finally grow with his father. Much furthur in the series Damian hides from the hero scene due to his mother putting a bounty on him. He masks himself as Red Bird to evade the trackers. As fate had it, Damian was murdered by an evil clone of himself. Batman then set on a rigorous quest to resurrect his son. Baman finally brought him back to life through Darkseid's Chaos Shard.
