Time's magazine with Bruce Wayne as the cover

Bruce Wayne

As a young boy, Bruce grew up in a wealthy home with a loving mother and father who cherished him without a doubt. However, after leaving an opera show one night with his parents, a criminal named Joe Chill mugged his parents and shot them. After witnessing this traumatic event, Bruce Wayne underwent a serious depression that caused his childhood to abruptly end. After completing his education at Princeton University, he embarked on a journey through China acting as a thief and criminal so that he would get a better grasp at just how hard life is for those without the luxuries he grew up with. After this trek, Mr. Wayne came back to Gotham and worked under his family's company just as his father did.

Batman

As a way to strike fear in heart of Gotham's criminals, Bruce Wayne disguised himself as The Caped Crusader named Batman. Through this costume, he is able to intimidate villains and scare the weak criminals away. However, the suit also serves for many tactical purposes such as: gliding with the cowl, carrying gadgets with the utility belt, and also providing secrecy for the identity of Batman. With Bruce Wayne's incredible wealth, Batman is able to purchase many special gadgets that allow him to solve any crime scene and fight any super-powered foe. Along with this wealth, Batman has many different suits that help him fight through a variety of harsh environments. To name a few, he has a stealth suit, sub-zero suit, desert suit, and a power-armored suit. Although Batman has no real superpowers, he has physically and mentally trained himself so that he can be at peak human condition. Batman has genius-level intelligence, incredible human strength, and access to high tech equipment. He is also a master escape artist and is the world's greatest detective, hence his nickname. Although he has no real superpowers, Batman is definitely not just an ordinary human.

Gotham

Plagued with dirty cops, petty-criminals, and mastermind villains, Batman is the hero Gotham City needs, but not the one it deserves. During the American Civil War, Gotham was defended by the ancestor of the Penguin. Col. Nathan Cobblepot fought for the Union Army in the Legendary Battle of Gotham Heights. In the 19th Century, the city was run by 5 rival gangs. The city has been cursed with bad luck ever since Ra's al Ghul first released a virus, called "The Clench", onto its citzens. After this followed a major 7.8 earthquake in 1998; which resulted in the federal government cutting the city off from the rest of the United States. With these unfortunate series of events, the people of Gotham were poor, grew tough, and became corrupt. Gotham City is said to be the 24 hour version of the most dangerous night in Chicago. With a dark atmosphere comes dark archtecture; Gotham city has exaggerated stone architecture that provides Batman with high rise buildings and gargoyles to stand on. All-in-all, Gotham city is the most dangerous and corrupt city in America in all of comic book history.
